Sugar Addiction

I just want to say we should have a sugar addicts support group, if anyone is interested please contact me! I am at week 3 of of my Low Glycemic index diet for information see : http://www.optimalfoods.org/low-glycemic-snacks.html
I didn't just wake up one day, and say hey self let's stop having giant Coca Cola's, skipping meals (usually two to be exact), fueling my body on coffee, and Coca Cola. I was the fat starving girl, and yes I ate dinner at 9:00 PM when I got home from work.  I know I was taught holistic nutrition, and should no better,  I'm not perfect. Me and Abby from NCIS have this in common, only obviously she is in shape, and I'm not. In real life over indulgence of sugar will most likely catch up to you through Diabetes or being overweight. When I went to my Doctor 3 weeks ago , and he told me I have three months to show I can get my glucose level and Hemoglobin alc down prior to medication it scared me! http://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/a1c-test/basics/definition/prc-20012585. On my journey during the first week I really thought I can't do this, just give me the drug for Diabetes. I had to re learn everything like eating 3 times a day, having sensible snacks, obviously no sugar, and only good carbohydrates. The good news is I am feeling better, and losing weight at an acceptable rate. I'm not hungry, in fact I feel good. If you ever get diagnosed with Diabetes it can be overwhelming, most of the local hospitals have a Diabetes Center you can go to for help. I still want my Coca Cola, I come from a long line of Coca Cola addicts all the way back to my Great Grandmother, I have been substituting with sparkling mineral water with limes or lemons, and if I have to Coke Zero. The Low Glycemic Index Diet is a great diet for anyone it is very easy to follow, and filling ( no hunger pains). http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/weight-loss/plans/diets/the-slow-carb-diet/   I will keep you posted on my progress!
