Are You Inside Your Mind Often
The serenity achieved by mindfulness of your body and mind can be taken away in a moment. It happens so fast, you don't even notice it. It's a struggle for many of us with emotional and physical ailments. We get up one day in less pain than we had the day before, now happier, and ready to face the day mindfully. We nourish our body's with good food, we nourish our minds with meditation, or another mindful practice. Then the next day you hurt, then the next moment it's all come undone. Your mind wanders to a time you felt better, now depressed over this physical ailment all the energy you achieved through mindfulness is zapped. Like a car whose battery was drained over night. I have developed for myself a one minute rule, as I know there is no way to stop my emotions. If I'm sad from physical pain, and feeling melancholy, I just let the tears pour. Let it out, identify with the emotion, and realize that this cycle of ups and downs just increases ones physical illness. Let yourself refocus and the next time your emotions are taking over practice releasing them quicker than one minute so that it becomes thought in, thought out. Think of a wave lapping up on a beach it comes forward quickly and then retreats back just as fast. Train your brain to adapt quickly and your mental, and physical health will improve. I agree with the author, if for any reason you're living inside your mind too much, and emotions are running the show then it's most likely time to look inwards to those subconscious areas hidden away that might be the cause of your distress. Did you know that adults who suffered abuse as children are more likely to have diseases that cause chronic pain. In fact the physical disease may have been brought on by the emotions from the childhood abuse. Negative energy will always win if we don't address the underlining issues. If depressed due to buried emotions than healing has to begin at the point of origin.
