Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to heal. The definition of aroma is a typically distinctive pleasant smell, you can massage them into the skin or simply put them into a diffuser. Aromatherapy has been around for thousands of years and presently has grown in popularity. Although many want to dispute their scientific credibility few can argue their therapeutic results when being used. Researchers believe when your nasal receptors inhale the essential oil it becomes a chain reaction. The amygdala and hippocampus that are the storage houses for our feelings and memories. When we breathe in the essential oil these different areas of the brain get stimulated helping us to relax and heal.

Who should avoid aromatherapy?

Pregnant women, people with severe asthma, and people with a history of allergies should only use essential oils under guidance and with full knowledge given to your physician. People with hypertension, seizures, any type of cancer or undergoing chemotherapy should always consult their physician.

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are found within the plant part, in specialized plant cells, buds, canals, cavities, ducts, vittae, and glands. Most often essential oils are extracted from the relevant part of the plant. In fruits there peels are zested and cold expressed.

Essential oils can help to uplift mood, promote relaxation, decrease pain, eliminate fear, and decrease anxiety. Essential oils have several other healing modalities. Essential oils have the ability to harmonize mind, body, and spirit. In my practice, I generally recommend an essential oil, flower essence, and possibly a herbal remedy.

When purchasing essential oils you get what you pay for. I like Alchemy Arts and
